Years of friendship, loads of laughs and hundreds of dances, even when we were both struggling! RIP my Dear friend. 💔
Remembering with fondness the times
Alec spent with us at the Fox and Hounds
I also had the pleasure of knowing you Alec. Talking to you in the Carters about something that was something you clearly enjoyed and took an interest in, that being your bell ringing, you have been too several places to ring bells. Then of course you had a lot of interest in the railways.
You were always going for a walk and I would see you waiting for a bus and I often saw you whilst I was in the Beehive.
I have wonderful memories of you AleC
Alec was a kind caring man. Hard working to the end. We worked as a Team for Prospect Hospice ie the Warehouse and the shops. My Husband Stephen worked with Alec for several years as a driver etc from the Warehouse, and myself from the West swindon shop.
You will be sadly missed Alec 😢

A beautiful human who has left an empty space at the bar. My life was richer having met you Mr Brown, thank you for being my biggest supporter and the best knackers player ever! Meet you at the next bar x
Will miss seeing you around the village. Your dedication to all the charities you gave your time for, will live on in everyone’s memories. Dawn and Wes Brown x
You will be so missed Alec, I so loved our chats, be that at the Jack, Fox or Carters or at the bus stop whilst you waited for the bus to take you off volunteering for one of the many lucky charities you supported. Lunch at Beehive will never be the same, without your friendly wave as you walk pass. You are an inspiration, a true one of a kind and a total gent. Cheers!
I’m sorry for your loss. I remember Alex as a fellow volunteer, from the time he first volunteered at our first charity shop SWA Survivor, (near the subway) from 2019, and more recently at our big shop (previously Clark’s) in The Parade, in Swindon town centre. He would stand for ages at a time steaming clothes for us whilst listening to music on the radio. By doing this, he has been part of raising funds for Society Without Abuse (formerly Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service) for years. I’m glad I had the opportunity to volunteer beside him.
Oh Alec, I will really miss chatting with you in the jack as-well as out and about . You were such a busy bee, always working with charities and so clever too. It really was a pleasure to know you. Thoughts are with your family xx

We’ll miss you Alec. You were an inspirational man with your volunteering and the hard working ethic of a much younger man. Most of all I’ll miss dancing with you. My final memory is of dancing with you in the Fox, a big smile on your face. RIP Alec
I will miss you dearly my lovely friend, you were a big part of our family always ❤️
Weekends or the village will not be the same without your smile and your obviously amazing dancing skills .🥰
you will always be in my thoughts lovely Alec❤️
love and hugs to all of the family x
Dear Alec was a wonderful volunteer and supported the Prospect Hospice Retail Team over a number of years, helping to raise funds by taking on the scrap collection, aswell as driving the vans, picking up and delivering stock and waste between shops and was a very valued and respected team member. He never held back, spoke directly, and had a wicked sense of humour. He will be sorely missed by so many of us that knew of his hard work, reliability and love of a pint. A dear man.
Oh Charly. So glad to see your response. .
I volunteered with Alec at Prospect for many years, and latterly at S&CR, though he always had more energy than I did!
I remember one chilly day when he was collecting rubbish from the Prospect Shop, he picked up a brass-coloured CD rack and, as he did so, one of the round knobs on top fell off. “I didn’t realise it was that cold,” I said, and he laughed and laughed.
The other times he got animated were when talking about how proud he was of what his children had achieved.
Alec will be missed.
