Mick Prince sadly passed on 13th March 2022 in the Prospect Hospice aged just 60 years.

His funeral service will be held at the North Wiltshire Crematorium Swindon on Friday 8th April at 13:00 hours.

Family flowers only however, donations in Mick’s memory for the Prospect Hospice may be sent c/o St John Road, more information on 01793 814602

  1. I first got to meet Mick on a lovely holiday in Croyde Bay with Nikki and her parents. That was the beginning of a lovely future for Nikki and Mick. Mick was a wonderful bubbly man , great husband to Nikki, and great father to Scott and Stephanie. Also a lovely friend to have had in our lives. Rest in peace Mick xx

  2. I worked with Mick on 206 Sqn A Flight when I first arrived at RAF Brize Norton and he helped me settle into the role. A lovely man who will be missed by all.

    1. It always seems the best are taken from us too soon. Mick I knew since Lyneham days, then again from his time with Qinetiq / 206 Sqn. Always a helpful, jolly chap, great to be around and work with too!
      My thoughts with Nikki and family right now. RIP top friend, God Bless.

  4. Worked with Mick at RAF Bruggen and RAF Lyneham. He was an absolute star and had time for everybody. Such sad news. Rest in Peace mate.

  5. I first worked with Mick on the 237 OCU at Honington when he moved there from Brawdy on hunters, he always was a friendly and happy chap, and when he bought his TR7 he was a kid with a new toy. We lost touch for a good few years but our paths crossed a few time at the engine bay Bruggen and again at Lyneham, in the words of ,
    ‘Tim nice but dim’ he was a ‘bloody nice bloke’. God bless you Mick. RIP friend.

  6. Mick has been a member of my team at QinetiQ for several years. His engineering and managerial skills, strength of character, positive outlook and good humour will be sadly missed. My thoughts are very much with Nikki and family at this difficult time.

  7. Mick was the most friendly and down to earth guy I have ever had the pleasure to have known. Always smiling he was a very gifted and knowledgable man. You will be sorely missed Mick.

  8. I recall Mick doing 2 engine changes for this GE down route in Bangor USA and Guyana. Great guy, great sense of humour. RIP fellow liney.

  9. I worked with Mick on A line /47-70 Eng Squadron both at Lyneham and on deployment. An excellent technician, who always had a laugh and a joke to help us through those long shifts. Sad news indeed, to hear of his passing. Blue Skies young man. RIP.

  10. I’ll never forget the first time I worked with Mick on Support Flight, 47/LXX Squadron. I was an SAC(T) and he was my new SNCO. He came out to do a prop change with me on the C130K and I managed to soak him in Hyd fluid!! Not the best impression to your new manager but he turned out to be such a great guy to work with. Many laughs were had in my time on Support Flight.

  11. Mick was so kind and friendly and always free for a chat. He will be sadly missed on 206 Sqn, dedicated and hardworking member of our team.

  12. A very sad day. I had the fortuitous pleasure to work with him many times whilst being an AGE at Lyneham and also regularly when I was a System engineer at QinetiQ at Boscombe Down. In his both careers, he was a consummate engineer, who would always give you sagely advice in a friendly and caring way. Thoughts with the family. RIP.

  13. I had the pleasure of working with Mick at QinetiQ and he was always such an upbeat, happy and an all-round genuinely lovely guy. I’m so saddened to hear of his passing and my deepest condolences go out to his family.

  14. Oh so sad to hear of Mick’s passing. At Brüggen in the RAF he was a CPL and I was J/T on the Engine Test Bed. Great days, me and Mick got on like a house on fire. He was mischievous and funny. He managed to wheelie the two seater mini yellow tractor we had with three people in it and also taught me to scuba dive, I’ll never forget Mick. Love and condolences to his family.

  15. Mick what a great guy hubby dad and wonderful friend – my hubby Steve first met Mick at RAF Chivenor in 1980 and have been friends ever since – heartfelt thanks to Nick, Scott, Steph and Chris for looking after our buddy – you will be missed by us Mick my darling xxxx

  17. A minute after meeting Mick you knew that he would be one of those guys you can always share a moment with giggling at the expense of a colleague stood right next to you. I will also be remember him for bearing his condition with good humour and humility and this is something that marks him out for the man he was. God bless you Mick and god bless your family.

  19. Mick was a true gent, always smiling and positive, a pleasure to know and work with. Mick was an absolute star in helping me transition from RAF life to ‘civi’ life. He will very much be missed.

  22. Mick was one of my Cpl’s on 8 Sqn EROS, what an absolute gent, worked hard but had a great sense of humour, also dived with him as part of Sub Aqua club, the world is a lessor place with you not in it, sad sad news. Stand easy Mick. RIP

    We met Mick (Micky P) on the Test Bed, RAF Bruggen and quickly realised what a top bloke he was, funny, friendly, hard working and above all else a family man. All our memories and best stories from Germany contain Micky P, from Testy Games & Balance, our near death experience following the Prince family to the Rhine in Flames and Mick going all out for ‘Carnival’ and shaving his beloved moustache off!

  24. I worked with Mick at Marham and remember him as a lovely guy who had a great sense of humour. Always had a twinkle in his eye and was happy laughing at himself as well as making other last. My condolences to Mick’s family. Blue skies Mick, rest in peace.

  25. I have known Mike for a number of years through working with him from time to time at QinetiQ. I was very saddened to hear of Mike passing because he was such a warm, kind hearted, lovely bloke with a cracking sense of humour. I’m sure that others will feel like me that when they think of Mike it will be with a smile.

  26. Shocked and saddened to learn of Mick’s passing, I served at Bruggen with Mick in the late 90’s. He is a great guy and shall be sorely missed by all. Condolences to the family and all that knew him!

  27. I worked with Mick at RAF Marham Test Bed and we got on straight away. Such a laid back funny guy. I have so many great great memories of him, Nikki the kids and Gus the hamster. Fantastic memories when we visited the Prince family in Germany and he drove us all around in his newly purchased two tone Toyota Picnic.

  28. Worked with Mick in the mid ‘90s at the Marham test bed, and then briefly again at the Bruggen test bed. He was the “Test Bed Jester” when he wanted to be, but always the consummate professional when duty called.
    I’ll remember Mick as a man with a funny story for any occasion, and I’m deeply saddened to learn of his passing.

  29. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Mick on 206 Sqn and I will miss his easy manner and friendly character. And also swapping stories of how bad the traffic is on the 419 in the morning. Rest easy Mick and thoughts to all your loved ones

  30. I worked with Mick at Lyneham, we were on the same shift on 47/LXX. We shared a tent or room during our various detachments or recoverys over the years. One of the best was Rodeo 2005 at McChord AFB in Tacoma, great times. We managed to keep in touch after leaving the RAF and seeing how brave you were over the last couple of years still amazes me. Mick you will be sadly missed, RIP buddy.

  31. Very sad news. Shared a few trials detachments with Mick and he was a most excellent travelling companion. Had some thoroughly amusing times with him both at Boscombe and away at various places. Was always great to catch up with him whenver I was up at Brize. RIP mate 😥😥

  32. Absolutely gutted to hear this. I knew Mick from working on Hercs. He was such a nice guy and was always friendly. I bumped into him when he moved across to 206 and I was pleased he was doing well. Everyone liked mick. He will be sorely missed by everyone. Blue skies.

  33. I worked with Nikki for years and it was clear that Mick was a terrific husband and dad. I had the privilege of meeting Mick a couple of times and was always greeted like an old friend, (even when we surprised him and Nikki enjoying a day out at Bodmin Railway Station). Clearly a top bloke. Thoughts are with Nikki and the kids.

  34. Had the pleasure of working alongside Mick during the Lyneham days. What a guy. Sad news to learn of Micks passing and he will be forever remembered by all who had the pleasure to work with such an amazing engineer.

  35. Such sad news to hear of Micks passing. A legend of a guy who was always so helpful. I Worked with him on 206 Sqn and he consistently kept me on the right side of all QQ issues. Often shared lifts back home with him after a beer call during which he would tell us how great the RAF was in his day! RIP Mick

  36. Mick taught engine testing at Bruggen Test bed. Great bloke, always happy and that rubbed off on every living soul he touched.

  37. Mick was a true gentleman and an absolute legend. Despite all of his health concerns, he was more interested in how everyone was and how he could help and make everyone else’s life better than anything else. His passion for his life, job and especially his family was really evident with every conversation we had. You will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace friend.

  38. I worked with Mick on projects with 206 Sqn for a number of years, he was always happy to help and share his vast experience and advice. Lovely man, always positive, smiling and joking. I will miss him.

  39. I initially met Mick when he was one of the guys who greeted my arrival at Sek Kong in 1993.
    In the end, we moved into the same block of flats as Mick & Nikki and our son was about the same age as Mick & Nikki’s daughter Stephanie.
    I fondly remember the fun times we all had together during our time in Hong Kong and it is one of my regrets that I have not been able to visit both Mick & Nikki more frequently since they moved to Wroughton.
    Mick was a great bloke to know and work with and he will be sorely missed.
    My sincerest condolences to Nikki, Scott, Stephanie and family and friends.

  40. I worked with Mick in 8 Sqn EROS. I remember an hilarious bench war using 720m”s as darts and air lines as propulsion.
    One ‘missile’ actually knocked over a Mo3 rotor pack which was ready for grinding !!

  41. I have been lucky enough to have known Mick my whole life as he was my Dads best friend. The memories I have of him will always be in my heart and will forever make me smile. From the jumping spider in Hong Kong, the lovely times we spent together in Croyde and at his house to the drunk dancing at my Brothers wedding! Mick was genuinely one of the nicest people I have met and he will be forever missed but his memory will live on in all who were lucky enough to know him. Sending all of my love to Nikki, Scott, Steph & Family, always xxxx

  42. Mick was an absolutely amazing guy, always had time for everyone and always with a smile on his face. I knew him from Lyneham days and it was great to work with him over the last year with QinetiQ, he helped me settle in. His courage and bravery was amazing, a truly great man, blue skies mate.

  45. Mick and Nikki were our neighbours at Langton Park many years ago and have always kept in touch. The world has lost a lovely struck down to early in his life.

  46. I worked with Mick at RAF Lyneham. Such a great guy to work with and a true gentleman. His cheerful personality was infectious and his sense of humour had me chuckling on many occasions.

  47. I first met Mick at R-R Filton when he was on the Project Team and I had been posted down there from RAF Wyton whilst on the Adour EA. Like what has been said above he was forever jovial, always having a laugh but also committed to the job in hand. We both left the RAF within days of each other having been released from our ‘continuance of service’. Service done, blue skies my friend. My condolences to Nikki and family.

  48. I knew Mick from the Lyneham days where he was one of my Propusion SNCO’s. Ever upbeat & a joker. Il never forget how he attached cardboard wheel trims to my Golf GTi & I unknowingly drove off with them attached -much to his amusement. A gentleman and all round good egg. Blue skies Princey

  49. Sadly only just learnt of Mick’s passing. I was on shift with Mick on 47/70 Eng Sqn. A top bloke in every respect and shared many a beer with him on detachments and deployments. Rest easy Mick.
